Belted

I love a skinny belt.

I swear, I could belt anything.  Dresses, shirts, slacks, blazers.  Skinny belts are on constant rotation in my wardrobe.  I like to buy mine extra long and fold or knot under the extra leather.  I've even avoided threading the belt through completely and just tied the ends together.  I blame the J.Crew catalog.  And Madewell.  And photos like these.

Faux Fur

"Whether it is reminiscent of 'then,' representative of 'now,' or prophetic of 'next,' fur is a look that never goes out of style." - Elle, October 2010

If you haven't figured it out yet, Marta is my blogging-bff, and she posted earlier this month that faux fur vests are back with a vengeance and has some great suggestions in addition to these below.

Tapered Trousers

Pleated, tapered trousers with a slimmer fit are the perfect pant for work and play.  Pair them with a trapey top and a cardigan or blazer and you can't go wrong.

Rainy Day Wear

It's a rainy, gloomy Monday in DC - and I kind of love it.  After the 90-some degree weekend we had, it's nice to have a break from the heat and an excuse to throw on some stylish rainy day wear, like these New Yorkers from Fashion Week.

Window Shopping: Madewell

I'm in love with just about everything on Madewell's website.  The J.Crew sibling store/brand has gotten a lot of positive press lately with its e-commerce launch and partnering with Alexa Chung.  A bit cheaper but similar in style to J.Crew, the brand is definitely worth checking out.

Happy Friday!

Into The Wild

A bit military and rustic, I'm loving these cozy, outdoorsy pieces for fall.  Now, if the weather would just start to feel like fall...

Revering Rue

I just finished flipping through the e-magazine Rue... twice.  Recently launched, the e-mag is a new online interiors and lifestyle publication - and it's wonderful.  View it yourself at www.ruemag.com and see below for a few of my favorite photos.

Officially Autumn!

Have a wonderful first day of fall (even if it still feels like summer)!

Sailor Stripes

In their October issue, Elle celebrated their "trademark take" on fashion with a guide to modern versions of the "iconic pieces that have defined the magazine's aesthetic," including one of my favorites, the sailor-stripe.

Earlier this week, the Glamazon Diaries posted on stars in stripes - saying they love the look for fall, but encouraging readers to only wear one striped item at a time and try to keep other pieces neutral.

For other striped inspiration, see my previous post on still loving stripes.

Loving Lace

Earlier this week, my friend Marta blogged about a J.Crew lace shirt that I just love.  Lace is somehow so romantic and yet refined.  I love the idea of pairing a lace shirt with a leather jacket... maybe even leather or wide leg pants a la January Jones.

Summer to Fall Street Style

The runways might be all about spring, but the street style photos are all about fall and the summer-to-fall transition.  The slight shift in style can be seen in the added layers, tailored blazers, bold accessories, and mixing of textures and patterns.  Oh, and boots are back!
