“This life is what you make it. No matter what, you’re going to mess it up sometimes, it’s a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you’re going to mess it up… So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life’s a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about.” – Marilyn Monroe

Chloé Fall 2010 RTW
Flipping through my September issue of Elle, I was struck by the camel color and rich texture in the ads by Chloe. I love the wide leg pants, skinny belts, and 70s inspired blouses for the office. After looking at all the fall RTW runway shots, I'm think it might be time to put away the skinny, cropped trousers and try out a different kind of professional look.
Shades of Olive
The military trend is sticking around for fall, and while I don't love the look when it goes too far, I do love the olive color, which will be a top color trend along with camel, purple and metallic (see Refinery's post on color trends). I especially love the look of pairing olive colored pants with sharp blazers, a la Cameron Diaz, Gwyneth Paltrow, Victoria Beckham, Olivia Palermo and even Kim Kardashian.

Relax
It was an exhausting wedding weekend and a long Monday morning. I'm looking forward to getting home, changing into more comfortable clothes, curling up in bed, and trying to relax! I might even get caught up on my reading!

Georgetown FNO Event
On September 10, 2010, the Georgetown neighborhood in DC will be joining in on the Fashion's Night Out celebrations. From 6PM-11PM, over 60 Georgetown stores, restaurants and salons will be participating in the global initiative created to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, and boost the industry's economy. See this DC City Blog post for a list of events and follow them on twitter. I'm particularly excited about the event at Urban Chic. From 5-11PM, enjoy a Halston heritage Trunk Show with CityShopGirl signature cocktails, styling on site and new Urban Chic looks at 10% off! Plus, receive a gift bag with all purchases. Need another excused to shop? 5% of the evening's proceeds will be donated to Helping America's Military Wounded.
Love H&M Fall
As soon as I'm done paying for wedding related expenses, I'm going to H&M and shopping their fall collection. I love the capes, camel, and cozy-looking pieces. September can't get here soon enough!

Sometimes, Less is More
"Clean lines, sleek silhouettes, a lack of embellishment... these are the hallmarks of this season's minimalism trend. With looks so understated, perfect tailoring and quality fabrics are a must." - stylebakery.com

Photo Booth!
Last Saturday at 5:30 in the morning, my roommate and I left our house for the airport and began our wedding adventure weekend. And it really was a bit of an adventure. We arrived in Milwaukee at 8AM, and with no hotel to go to, camped out in the airport. We walked through a museum, sipped coffee at Starbucks, and got ready for the wedding in the airport bathroom. Adventure. After our dresses were on, our hair curled, and our makeup redone, we got in a cab and headed for the church. The wedding was beautiful, and of course, I was fighting back tears as Barb walked down the aisle.
After the wedding, we boarded a shuttle that took us to the hotel, where we dropped off our luggage. We didn't actually have a room, so we had to kill some more time by shopping and wandering around the Milwaukee riverfront. Eventually we just decided to relax in the hotel lobby, before getting ready in another random restroom. Like I said - adventure. Then we grabbed our luggage, and it was off to the reception site for dinner and dancing!
Photo booth prints from Barbara and Devlin's wedding!
After the reception, my mom was nice enough to pick us up so we could spend the night in Madison with my family. Adventures and all, it was a wonderful weekend and I was so happy to celebrate with Barbara and Devlin on their wedding day!

As if I needed another reason to be jealous of Olivia Palermo - how cute is this?
